CESAR CHAVEZ
2020
Size: 36” x 48”, mixed media photograph and 6,000+ hand-painted miniature figurines
Cesar Chavez was a labor leader and activist, best known for organizing the grape strike and boycott in 1965, and for launching the United Farm Workers union. 10,000 hand-painted, miniature black plastic figures compose this portrait of Chavez, set against the southern border wall. They climb and jump over a metal fence, stretching across the top of the piece. Si se puede.
